TRAINS

Slovenia’s rail network is less extensive as compared to other European countries. There are trains from neighbouring countries into Slovenia – the most popular route being from Vienna (Austria) to Ljubljana while enjoying the Julian Alps.

Within Slovenia, trains are cheaper and comfortable to wander around but main attractions routes can be indirect so it’s advisable to decide prior as one can check train schedules and timings.

 

BUS

It’s the most recommended and preferred way to travel within Slovenia and it’s also well connected with other European cities. Buses are the best mode of commute to travel to the countryside and less explored towns. One can buy tickets directly from the bus driver and at major stops, one can pre-purchase the tickets.

 

ROAD

It’s also one of the easiest options to travel across the country as roads are good and signposted. Although some are winding roads but driving through them is pretty. But vignette (a form of road pricing imposed on vehicles – sort of a road tax) is mandatory while driving on Slovenian roads.

Slovenia is a known country for serving delicious meals accompanied with Slovenian wines favoring the taste buds of the people. Slovenia is not very well known for its cuisine, but it surely has remarkable vibrant food to offer.

 

Slovenia has borrowed the best cuisines of its neighbouring countries (eg. Pastas, risottos, pizza from Italy; sausages, strudel from Austria; goulash, braised beef, or chicken and pancakes from Hungary) and merged it with local flavors to form its diverse and distinctive Slovenian Cuisine.

Best Time To Visit

Slovenia is extremely beautiful and every season has a varied range of beauty and activities to offer. May to October is usually the best time to visit Slovenia wherein the weather is relatively pleasant and it's filled with greenery.

 

July and August are the hottest months of the year but the climate isn’t too high (usually it doesn’t rise beyond 25°C) and it’s usually crowded during these 2 months.

 

September and October are fantastic times to visit as the crowds have lessened, comfortable weather, and even amazing adventure activities it offers.
