It’s the national museum of modern art dedicated to 20th-century art named after Queen Sofia housing collections of great Spanish artists like Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. The most important painting to see there is Guernica by Picasso and exhibitions are also held regularly.

It is very popular for local foods and delicacies and is open till late during weekends making it a popular spot for locals and tourists to enjoy tapas and drinks.

 

Teatro Real Royal Opera just stands opposite Royal Palace and is majestic and grand in itself. It’s one of the great theatres of Europe and a symbolic landmark of the city. Grand Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family which is now used for state ceremonies. It’s by far the largest palace in Europe in terms of its Size. The Palace is one of a kind boasting about 3400 rooms and it's decorated beautifully with paintings and collections of great historical & artistic importance.

Plaza Mayor is the rectangular central square in Madrid City surrounded by shops, restaurants, cafes, and a fleet of people. A statue of King Philip III lies at the centre of this vibrant square. It’s a must to try Churros and Chocolate with one of the best spots in the city at “Chocolateria San Gines” which lies in a tiny street off the Plaza Mayor Square. It would be busy and queues lined up but it’s worth the wait to try Churros and thick hot chocolate.

 

Toledo used to be the Capital of ancient Spain and is well known as the city of 3 cultures – Muslims, Christians & Jewish. Toledo impresses visitors with its beautiful landscape backdrop with medieval walls (churches & mosques), winding pedestrian cobblestoned streets with steep climbs making you feel as if you are in an entirely different era.

 

It’s easier to access by train from Madrid to Toledo and hop-on-hop-off bus to explore the city or regular day trips that operate from Madrid when you are traveling in a group. The city’s architecture and medieval feel can be seen from the Toledo Station, Toledo Cathedral, Alcazar, etc.
